Christmassy

Published by Erica at 12:03 PM

We are definitely fully immersing into the Christmas mood around our house. There has been a good bit of present-making, present-wrapping, baking, cooking, not much cleaning, and Christmas movie-watching.

I managed to make ONE Lucy (Attic24) ornament this weekend. Though easy enough, it's also a bit time- and labor-intensive. It took ALL this hubbub (below) to create one ornament. But it turned out very well!

As you see, I made mine a five-point star (not six, as in the pattern). This was accomplished by altering round 5 (the "pointy triangle bits"). Instead of four slip stitches between points, I did five. This resulted in five evenly spaced points on the star.

I also didn't stuff my star - I thought it was pleasantly plump enough as it is. Also, there were plenty of unwoven-in ends on the insides to give it a bit of padding.

I like the way this turned out, and will (probably) make more for my tree before next Christmas. In the meantime, here it is, dwarfing the other ornaments on my small office tree.

It's cold enough here in North Carolina that we may get some snow later this week. In all my years (so many of them, haha), I've never experienced a "white" Christmas. In the South, it seldom snows at all! Not that I'm complaining, believe me. But it would be nice, just once.

Here is Olive, our family's youngest member, in line to receive a sweatshirt that was first owned by my son, then my daughter... now just the right size for a Scottie dog. Naturally, she has been masterfully engineered (head to toe) for cold weather, but being a spoiled couch dog, she sports this sweatshirt with finesse and a bit of pleasure, I'd say.

Love you star! I love with those decs that you don't need to weave in the ends! it makes them far less labour intensive!
Olive is just a sweetie, I love her!

We had snow showers last night. I can't believe they didn't make it your way. I know it has to be cold enough. Your ornament came out beautifully!

Hehe, I'm in eastern NC. I was completely shocked when we got snow a few days ago! My son and I had just enough time to have a miniature snowball fight before it all melted :)

You go girl. That's one more than this Bell has gotten around too. I so want to stop and make a few of these cut-ies...I might have to see if I can figure something out with those A.F.s I have laying around from the past summer...mmmmm, now there's an idea.

Stay Warm. The cold is heading your way.
